My First Encounter

I left work at 10:00 A.M., having planned to take my son for an outing in the mountains. I heard of chemtrails earlier in the week and therefore paid greater attention to the sky while driving home. I saw three suspicious "contrails" on my way, one directly over my home.

I picked up my son and we departed for our outing at approximately 12:00 noon. We stopped by a nearby store to buy some camera film. By the time we returned to our car, the trails were much more numerous. Two jet aircraft passed directly overhead, one traveling east and one traveling west, each spewing out an extremely dense white trail that nearly spanned to both horizons (east-west). I loaded the camera and snapped a couple of quick pictures in the parking lot.

This picture was taken at a shopping center near 3800 Youngfield Street. Chemtrails are shown above with chemclouds forming below:

Driving away from the city, west on Interstate-70, I became quite alarmed as I got a better view of the city and the enormity of this operation. Lookout Mountain was nearby and provided a birds eye view of the city. I decided this was the best place to snap a few more shots

This picture was taken near the base of Lookout Mountain. The thin streak near the central left part of the picture shows an aircraft flying to the left while discharging a thin dense chemtrail:

The pollution was so thick that I could not see the city but I did see, most times, two or three jet aircraft laying down trail after trail in all directions. The trails were bright white and well defined just behind the jet. They gradually expanded over time into huge, wavy, cylindrical shaped clouds that spanned the sky as they expanded further, reaching out to merge with each other to create amorphous chemclouds. The color of the chemclouds was a normal cloud-white but the texture, indicative of density, had a mottled or streaky appearance.

This picture was taken atop Lookout Mountain. This picture shows 4 chemtrails of varying densities above the treetops:

We proceeded west on Interstate-70 as I scanned the skies for additional activity. One jet got my attention as it climbed into an unusually steep ascent, rising above the haze at a steep angle, it's thick trail expanding ever greater behind it as if to punctuate the sky with a huge exclamation mark.

This picture was taken from the shoulder of Interstate-70 near Chief Hosa Lodge and Campground. The long "backslash" chemtrail near the center of the picture is the ascending aircraft creating the "exclamation mark". Dense chemclouds are seen throughout the picture and are particularly dense in the lower quarter of the picture, above the treetops:

I took 22 pictures before we left Denver and the "Foothills" area. The polluted skies were the worst I had ever seen but soon gave way to blue skies and fluffy natural clouds as we continued westward, away from this insanity.

Saturday, March 20 through Wednesday, March 24, 1999

I observed light "activity" on Saturday and Sunday and no "activity" on Monday through Wednesday . . .

Another Onslaught

At lunch time on Thursday March 25th, I noticed heavy trails over my place of employment. The aircraft made frequent passages to the east or west for the remainder of the afternoon. At 3:00 P.M., I took a picture of one large X and one trail being formed overhead as I began my commute home.

This picture was taken near 2500 South Broadway. Two chemtrails forming an X are shown:

The picture below of a jet aircraft, creating a chemtrail, was also taken near 2500 South Broadway. It was taken at maximum zoom using a Pentax 105-R. The resulting tiny image of the aircraft was scanned at 1200 DPI. The area of interest was cropped out and resampled:

I was extremely shocked by the amount of haze that had accumulated to the north-west area of town. This thick cloud seemed trapped at the base of the mountains nearby my home. The haze was so thick that you could not see for a distance greater than perhaps 5 miles. I felt uneasy as I neared my home knowing that my family had been consumed within this ugly, unknown monster.

I hurried my wife and child into the family car and promptly headed for Idaho Springs, 30 miles to the west, where my brother lives. I was in a state of panic and wanted only to get out of that cloud. To my dismay, most of the territory we covered had the same ugly haze to a greater or lesser extent. It seemed to concentrate in the valleys and low-lying areas and at times totally covered the terrain from sight. I stopped to take a picture or two, looking west, at the top of the hill near Genesee to document the poor visibility. I could only see the nearest mountains as a hazy outline, the ranges lying behind were completely blanked out! Along the way, we noted frequent fly-overs, as usual spewing a heavy trail of ever expanding crap behind them.

This picture was taken looking west from the shoulder of Interstate-70, near Genesee Campground. Only the nearest mountains are visible. The taller mountain ranges, of the Continental Divide, should be seen in the background. The missing mountains are not distant and, if visible, would dwarf the scenery in the foreground. As you can see, they are completely smothered by the very dense haze:

When we arrived in Idaho Springs the haze was thinner but still present. There were also trails directly overhead. My brother's family informed me of the all day spraying that began late that morning. While I was inside visiting, my wife and sister-in-law saw an aircraft roar through. As it banked to clear a mountain range, they noticed it spewing two distinct streams from its rear, a white one from one side and a black (or dark gray) one from the other. When the black stream merged with the white, a short distance behind the craft, the black was erased and only a white chemtrail remained.

A Chronology of Today's Observations

 6:00 A.M.

I arrive at work and notice an expanding trail overhead as I enter the building.

Throughout the Workday . . .

When I have opportunity to go outside, I either see chemtrail-laying aircraft in action, making frequent passes, or their telltale signs (the trails themselves or the ugly clouds that form). I see them far to the north, far to the south and sometimes overhead. They are generally traveling either east or west, horizon to horizon. At 12:15 P.M., I observed one that had passed overhead traveling east. As it neared the eastern horizon it's straight course began to sweep slightly southward into an immense arc.

3:00 P.M.

The haze did not seem to accumulate as severely as yesterday, perhaps the winds and cloudy conditions made it more difficult to bury us in this shit.

7:00 P.M.

I walk outside into my back yard to take another look into the sky. It is nearly dark now. The overcast sky has mostly cleared. I see a deep blue sky above me with yet another expanding white trail directly overhead. I also see 2 ugly chemclouds looming nearby to spoil an otherwise beautiful night.

7:30 P.M.

From my back yard I see another fresh trail. A jet airliner passes over without a hint of a contrail. I hear the louder roar of another jet. It's sound dwarfs the sound of the airliners. This one passes directly overhead between myself and the moon, it's prominent cloud growing ever longer behind it.

8:00 - 8:15 P.M.

I step outside to look again. I see numerous airliners several miles to the east following one another in a timed sequence of landing approaches. Other airliners are seen at higher altitudes than the ones descending for a landing. The moonlight is still bright. No fresh trails are visible.

9:00 P.M.

I return for another look. The sky continues to clear. I see no evidence of trails.

11:00 P.M.

I again step outside. I look and listen for 5 minutes. I hear the loud roar of a jet aircraft approaching. It is traveling much faster than the airliners I saw earlier. It passes directly overhead spewing a dense trail behind it. It is windy where the chemtrail was deposited. The wind is pushing the trail sideways. It is moving over as a unit without scattering. The wind continues to push it and it passes under the bright moon. The chemtrail is bright white but the moon appears black when viewed through this thick monster. The trail continues to move sideways being pushed by the wind. It clings together but expands ever so slowly. I reenter the house.

12:30 A.M. (Saturday March 27, 1999)

I step outside to take another look before retiring. Another expanding chemtrail is looming nearby.

The City Slowly Recovers

Although I observed the skies periodically between the hours of 6:30 A.M. on March 27, 1999 to 3:00 A.M. on March 28, 1999, I saw absolutely no chemtrail creating aircraft (normal craft were observed).

It was overcast early that morning. The real clouds began clearing shortly after the sun came up and gave way to a crystal clear blue sky that was hampered only by thin, widely scattered chemclouds. The chemclouds remained and did not clear away as the huge and voluminous natural ones did. This struck me as very odd, the chemclouds seemed to have the relentless ability to just hang there while the natural ones went away.

Later on, we got many more natural clouds, some of which were very gray and threatened rain. This made it more difficult to recognize the chemclouds except for yet another unusual chemcloud property. The chemclouds had a tendency to lurk beneath the real clouds rather than mix with them. I could recognize them by their telltale thin, streaky appearance. They seemed to linger at a somewhat uniform distance from the ground without sinking to the ground or rising away from it. This also seemed very odd and it made me think of the precision that must have gone into their design.

Later that afternoon it became very windy. By evening all of the clouds (natural and artificial) had cleared away. The night, clear and moonlit, was again excellent for viewing. I saw no chemtrails, the atmospheric conditions looked clean and natural, excluding normal pollution.

Strange Haze High in the Rocky Mountains

5:30 A.M.

The skies are cloudless as I drive to work however, there seems to be a dome of haze covering the city.

7:35 A.M.

I walk outside and immediately notice a jet aircraft discharging a chemtrail. It is heading west but soon gets prematurely swallowed within the haze over the city. It is becoming harder to see the aircraft, the city now covered with a thick blanket of haze.

8:40 A.M.

Stepping outside again, I see another westbound sprayer overhead. It popped into sight through the haze at 10 o'clock in the east and disappeared at 2 o'clock in the west. As before, the aircraft was prematurely swallowed by the haze, the haze now masking the jets as well as the chemical plumes they release.

9:30 A.M.

Another look outside, I see one more jet headed west over the building. I notice the chemtrails are shorter than they were weeks ago, they dissipate more quickly. I theorize that, the air is now so heavily laden with this chemical, that it absorbs the plume quickly, into a sea of the same material, like water being absorbed by a damp sponge. I notice the haze, seen around the horizon, is frequent if not continuous.

2:30 P.M.

From my office, the mountains, beyond the other side of the city, which are usually quite visible, are now completely blanked out. The sky is white not blue! I decide to investigate by taking a drive up to the mountains. As I near the front range, at the west edge of the city and the base of the mountains, I can tell that I am driving through a very thick accumulation of the white haze. Driving up C-470 on my way to Interstate-70, there is a chemical smell in the air. For a moment, I think it smells like chlorine bleach, but I am not sure. I just can't figure out the odor. Proceeding west on Interstate-70, the fumes are very strong and visibility is poor. I took a picture, looking east toward the city. I cannot believe how poor the visibility is. I feel somewhat intoxicated, as I continue my journey. I don't know if it's the fumes or my own adrenaline that makes me feel so.

3:30 P.M.

Traveling west on Interstate-70, 3 miles east of Idaho Springs, I see a jet, it's chemical plume blowing out behind it like a giant blowtorch. One mile further west there is another, high over the mountains, they are everywhere. West of Idaho Springs the haze is quite visible, looking west into the sun and over a range of mountains.

3:45 - 4:00 P.M.

As I drive 10 more miles to Georgetown, I count 3 more jets, their snow white plumes brightly illuminated by the afternoon sun. At Georgetown, the sky is still unnaturally white.

4:05 P.M.

I am overlooking Georgetown, as I start up the winding road that leads to the summit of Guanella Pass, to the top of the Continental Divide. As I look east over the mountains toward Denver, the sky is painted white with haze.

4:15 P.M.

I stop at Clear Lake, approximately 1/2 the distance to the top of the pass.

This picture was taken looking east over frozen Clear Lake, between Georgetown and the summit of Guanella Pass. The sky looks grayish white above the mountain tops. I hear the roar of a jet echoing through the mountains but cannot see it:

4:21 P.M.

Still at Clear Lake, the jet becomes visible as it flies over a range of mountains. I zoom my camera as my turbine powered prey approaches. In the viewfinder, I clearly see the craft, it's wings, the fuselage and tail. There are dual plumes, one emanating from each side of the tail section. I snap the shutter to capture it. I get one more shot before it escapes beyond the opposing mountain range.

This picture was also taken at Clear Lake. It shows the geometry of the jet and dual plumes originating from the tail section. All of the others jets that I have photographed have 3 plumes, not 2. I am not sure what significance this may have:

4:40 P.M.

I arrive at the top of Guanella Pass, 6 miles beyond Clear Lake and 11,669 feet above sea level. The cloudless skies are still painted white with the chemical haze.

The picture below was taken at the summit of Guanella Pass at 4:40 P.M. It represents the condition of the air upon my arrival this afternoon. I have visited this spot many times throughout my life and have never seen a sight like this:

4:50 P.M.

I step out of my car. The sun is still shining brightly but the air is cold. I look all around the horizon. Over the mountain tops and everywhere I look, from the horizon to a10 degree inclination above it, the sky is pure white with haze and without a blue tint. Beyond the 10 degree inclination, the color of the sky gradually turns from white to blue, but even looking straight up, the white haze is still discernible.

4:54 P.M.

I take another picture, showing the haze to the east over the mountain ranges. One more aircraft is blowing yet another chemplume, high above and to the west. Even while standing 11,669 feet above sea level, the aircraft are amazingly high above me. At their altitude, I am sure that real contrails form, but the dense haze and chemical odor confirms my suspicions that I am witnessing chemtrail emissions.

4:57 P.M.

I see two more sprayers, one following the Continental Divide headed north and another following the divide headed south. I snap the shutter as they pass head on at close range to each other.

5:00 - 5:18 P.M.

The chemical odor in the air is very strong. The fresh mountain air, that I have known since childhood, is now gone. That same odor that haunts me in the city is also here! I keep trying to figure it out.

The jets are everywhere. If I don't see them, I hear them, sometimes 2 or 3 in sight at one time. They are coming and going from many directions. They are running north and south, following the Continental Divide. They are headed east and west, passing over the divide and sometimes northwest or southeast. I take several more photographs of jets, near and far, spewing their familiar chemical plumes. It is so smoky up here, I feel like I am surrounded by a forest fire!

The picture below was taken at the summit of Guanella Pass at 5:00 P.M. It is another representation of the polluted air this afternoon. The haze is quite stratified, having a much higher concentration, below the altitude of the aircraft propagating it. Notice the chemical plume being sprayed from the jet in the upper half of the picture:

I got another close-up at 5:12 P.M., as an eastbound jet crossed the divide and passed directly overhead. This plane appears to be the same type as the previous one, near Clear Lake, with one important difference: There is a third plume, originating between and some distance behind the outboard plumes. This is the same plume geometry that was recorded in my photo of the plane over Denver:

5:21 P.M.

The sun is waiting to set over the Continental Divide. I have never seen such an ugly sky, in any polluted city or anywhere else. The first 10 degrees of inclination from the horizon is light gray. At 20 degrees it is whitish-gray. At a 45 degree inclination it is a whitish-blue and at 90 degrees (straight up) it is bluish-white. Keep in mind, this is otherwise a "clear day".

5:30 P.M.

The sun has now begun to set over the mountains. I again question; what is this stuff and what does it smell like? Finally, a bell goes off in my head, I have figured out the smell. Up here, the odor is not masked by the city pollution. In this setting, it smells like the fumes that come off of melted plastic (polyethylene) or possibly the smell of melted paraffin. I see another jet far to the northwest heading northeast. The haze is now so thick up here, the jet gets prematurely swallowed within it.

5:36 P.M.

I shoot a picture of another southbound jet following the divide. By now, the sky looks terrible, the odor is quite strong. My lungs feel strange. I now realize, the thin air at this altitude, combined with the density of this mysterious white chemical, must be clobbering me with heavy dose of this crap.

5:43 P.M.

Another jet is seen at high altitude heading west. The haze is now so thick, the jet can hardly be seen. In the past 50 minutes I have counted 11 jets, averaging 1 in every 4.5 minutes. They are so frequent that I sometimes have to scramble to photograph them and jot down notes before the appearance of another.

5:50 P.M.

Having returned to my car, I turn on the radio. As I listen to the news, I realize how ridiculous this is. Most people are not aware of what is taking place and likewise, this is not being reported by the media. The newscaster reports: "Clean Air Colorado reports good air quality for this evening". I laugh to myself at the absurdity of that statement.

5:53 - 6:08 P.M.

The the sun has set over the mountain, the sky above is still white. To the east, at a zero degree inclination, the air has a brown cast. Looking southwest, the air looks brownish yellow, illuminated by the setting sun. It has been 25 minutes since I have seen a jet. I wonder if they have finished for the evening?

6:10 - 6:22 P.M.

I count 6 more "visitors" as I continue to photograph them. In this setting, most of the chemtrails do not linger very long, they are rapidly absorbed into the ever thickening haze. Occasionally, a long portion of a plume will linger and remain as a permanent cloud.

The picture below was taken at 6:13 P.M. from the summit of Guanella Pass. The camera is pointing west after the sun has set. The jet's chemical plume, high above,  is still bathed in the sunlight. A portion of a chemtrail, left by a previous jet, is seen in the upper left portion of the frame. The thick haze and chemclouds, can clearly be seen, in the lower third of the picture:

6:30 P.M.

Referring to my notes, I have counted 22 different sightings of jets spraying chemtrails, since I left Denver. It is now dusk and is getting rather cold. I start my car and turn on the heater. I take one last look at the brown cloud that surrounds me. Looking higher into the sky, it is still whitened with haze. I start down the pass, headed for Georgetown. It soon becomes dark, I am amazed at how clear the sky now looks. It seems that the darkness has masked the effect of the haze.

7:15 P.M.

As I approach Denver, the air also looks clear. I can see a very clear sky with stars and "normal" aircraft. I can see the lights across the entire city, devoid of any haze or pollution. After what I have witnessed over the past 12 hours, this struck me as very odd.

After arriving home, my lungs became increasingly irritated. I had a nagging cough that persisted throughout the night and produced a significant amount of phlegm. My cough persisted throughout the following day, although less productive. On the evening of March 30th, I was coughing up up small spots of blood mixed with phlegm. My throat was very dry, my lips were chapped and I was constantly thirsty.

I Started Raising Hell with Government Agencies

5:30 A.M.

Two jets rose from the east at nearly the same time, climbing steeply, their prominent chemtrails spanning upward and across the city like dual "thumbs-up". I saw heavy streaky chemclouds in the north and eastern parts of the city. Arriving at work, 20 minutes later, the "thumbs-up" were still there.

8:30 A.M.

My wife telephoned me, relaying her strange observation while driving my son to school. Looking into the rising sun at the eastern chemclouds, particularly heavy that morning, she put on her polarized sunglasses and saw what mimicked the sight of a drop of oil placed into a glass of water. The clouds looked like a swirling, mottled, rainbow of colors.

I have grown tired of watching and photographing chemtrails. I have witnessed the skies turn from beauty to pure crap in a matter of hours. Upon clearing skies, I have felt hopeful that it is only temporary, only to be disappointed a day or two later when the chemical plumes return. I have grow tired of ugly polluted odor that prevails as the bombing continues. I have seen so much of this and have taken so many pictures, that taking any more seems pointless. I am so angry that all of this is going on, without public knowledge, and no word from the media!

9:00 A.M.

I finally blew my stack by about 9:00 A.M. and started raising hell with every government agency or media source that I could reach by telephone or e-mail.

Regarding telephone calls:

I talked to numerous people at various offices and agencies including: The Environmental Protection Agency, The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and The Regional Air Quality Council. Most calls resulted in a referral to another office, as the respondents tried to find someone that could answer my questions. Many thanks to the few that were genuinely sympathetic and did more than simply give me the brush-off.

Regarding e-mail:

E-mail, similar to the example below, was sent to: Governor Owens (State of Colorado), The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Region 8), The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Wired News (wired.com), The Rocky Mountain News, The Denver Post, Paula Woodward (KUSA-TV, 9NEWS) and Tom Martino (troubleshooter.com).

Dear Governor Owens,

I am completely outraged! I have witnessed, photographed and investigated numerous jet aircraft "contrail" events in and around Denver, Colorado since March 19, 1999. I have watched the white haze form a dome over the entire city, and everywhere I have been, including the top of the continental divide!

Last night, I was consumed by white haze being atomized and propagated from SWARMS of jet aircraft while I stood atop a mountain range on the continental divide! The fumes smelled of hot polyethylene and covered the terrain for as far as the eye could see. After returning home, I have severe lung congestion and assume my lungs must be coated with this crap. Don't forget, we are talking about a PRISTINE area that is supposed to have FRESH AIR! This is NOT NORMAL aircraft emissions.

I have been very vocal, both to the EPA and the CDPHE today, by telephone. I can tell by their reaction that they are aware of it and are just giving me the run around. Not one person that I talked to "had authority". I fully believe they are trying to cover the earth with this crap. The perpetrator of this must surely be trying to exterminate us!

I am sure that I am not the only one that has witnessed these emissions or the chemclouds they create. I am also sure that I am not the only person that has complained. Will you please see what can be done to inform the public on why this is happening and how long this onslaught will last?

Sincerely,

Gary R. Calhoun

Many thanks to: Roxanna Butler and Cathy Heald (CDPHE), Paula Woodward (KUSA-TV - 9NEWS) and Chris Oakes (Wired News) for you concern or acknowledgment of my message.

I Visit the Doctor

5:30 A.M.

I see another jet, spraying a chemtrail overhead, on a westbound course toward the mountains. The haze is so thick that I can hardly see him.

6:00 A.M.

From my office, the haze over Denver is so thick that I can barely see across town.

11:50 A.M.

I witness the deposition of 2 more chemtrails, high in the sky, on my way to the doctor. I have had so many sightings, I am no longer surprised by their presence. It seems, "they" are always up there.

12:00 Noon

The appearance of blood in my phlegm had alarmed me last night. This morning, I feel much better but decided to visit the doctor anyway. My appointment is for 12:00 noon. My cough is now gone but I still have a tremendous thirst. After the usual tests for temperature and blood pressure, the doctor listens to my lungs with a stethoscope. I receive a lung capacity test. As usual, I pass this test with flying colors. My doctor says: "The lungs can take a pretty good hit and clear themselves out rather quickly." I assured him that I had, quite certainly, taken "a pretty good hit", although I don't think he fully believed my story.
